Originally established in Birmingham at the end of World War II, Shaw Advertising became Shaw & Underwood when founder, Walter Shaw was joined by partner Edward Underwood. Wally and Ted went on to become well respected and well loved figures within the Midlands’ advertising scene.
Carrying on the founders’ ethos and their hard-working, straight-talking and results-oriented approach to collaborating with clients, the current directors are all share-owning partners. Our combined multi-faceted experience covers many years and many different aspects of marketing and communications - both traditional and innovative.

Setting out in life as a graphic designer, Lynn has many years' experience in designing for advertising and print. His ability to write intelligent, hard-hitting or pithy copy for ads and brochures did not go unnoticed however and now much of his time is also spent writing press releases and articles - often of a technical nature.
Simon has spent his working life in publicity and continues with the same energy and enthusiasm as he did on day one. A born communicator, Simon works hard to deliver solutions carefully matched to clients requirements across a range of platforms. Outside of work, Simon’s passion is rock music, particularly the prog genre, a subject upon which he is quite happy to speak for many hours!
Chris has worked with a range of clients, including several blue-chip companies, across a variety of business sectors, to deliver tangible results time and time again. He combines the ability to think strategically with a capacity to realise the potential of any brief and to communicate effectively, whatever the audience.
An Accredited CIPR Diploma graduate with an unquenchable thirst for the written word, Laurie has a keen interest in a range of sectors and an undeniable love for communications. She started her career at a digital agency and enjoys heading up social media at Shaw & Underwood. In her own time, Laurie writes a lifestyle blog and spends too much time on Instagram.
